Bob Maistros
Bob Maistros, counsel to New Strategies Group, specializes in developing high-impact messaging and communications for top-level executives and policymakers throughout the United States and Europe.
Mr. Maistros was chief writer at the Reagan-Bush '84 campaign and has been a Senate subcommittee counsel. His speechwriting clients have included such luminaries of the business and political worlds as Steve Case; Bob Pittman; Ted Leonsis; Sumner Redstone; Tom Freston; U.S. Senators Orrin Hatch, Charles Grassley and the late John Heinz; the CEOs of Pfizer, Kraft, Texaco, XM Satellite Radio, and other high-profile companies; and the Chairman and President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Previously, Mr. Maistros was Principal at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, a leading strategic communications firm owned by the WPP Group, where as a crisis and messaging specialist, he was a presence in C-Suites for many of the headline-making business events of the last two decades. He oversaw RLM's Dulles, VA-based America Online account team and helped develop messaging and design and implement a range of initiatives spanning disciplines from financial communications to strategic philanthropy to marketing for clients such as Pfizer, IBM, WebMD, Six Flags, Morgan Stanley and Century 21 Real Estate Corporation. Mr. Maistros first joined RLM in 1986 and was part of the crisis team steering Texaco through a record legal judgment and a precedent-setting proxy fight with Carl Icahn, for which he drafted a series of ground-breaking fight ads.
Between 1995 and 2000, he owned his own company, Executive Communications International, which took on diverse communications assignments for clients including Bristol Myers Squibb, Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the Austrian People's (Conservative) Party, and the Austrian Business Agency, the country's investment promotion agency, for whom he conceived the Austria: EUROpportunity marketing slogan.
In addition, Mr. Maistros has launched the strategic communications practice for a Vienna, Austria-based public relations agency, developing positioning, crisis communications and internal programs for such clients as the Federal Economic Chamber, the Environment Ministry, Austrian Airlines and the national power cooperative.
Mr. Maistros is an honors graduate of George Washington University Law School and the University of Michigan and a member of the District of Columbia Bar (inactive status).
